Homebound Services

Our Homebound Services program brings library materials to you at home. Once you apply and are accepted into our Homebound Services program, our Homebound Services Librarian will select books and other materials, and then schedule a delivery. For more info, call the Info Desk at 847-455-6016, ext. 229 or email homebound@fppld.org.

Eligibility

Home delivery of library materials is available to Franklin Park Public Library District residents who are confined temporarily to their residence due to accident or illness, or permanently due to physical disability or impairment.

To Apply

The Homebound Services application must be completed by the library patron requesting home delivery of materials and approved by the Homebound Services Librarian. Applications can be picked up at the Info Desk, downloaded and printed out, or the Homebound Services Librarian can be contacted to make a preliminary visit.

Library Card Registration/Use

Each homebound patron must register for a library card if he or she does not already have one. Arrangements can be made to have the Homebound Services Librarian register a homebound patron who does not have a card.

Materials & Delivery

Once you are enrolled in Homebound Services, deliveries are made once a week, usually on Wednesdays between 9 and 10 AM. The Homebound Services Librarian will call you each week to see if you have items ready to be picked up and if you need new items. You may also call the Homebound Services Librarian and leave a message.

All formats of materials are eligible for homebound delivery. Rules regarding the maximum number of items that may be borrowed at one time (e.g. DVDs, CDs) apply for homebound delivery. You may submit your own request or items can be ordered based on your answers on the Homebound Application form.

Loan Periods/Fines

Materials are loaned for the standard loan period, and some materials are eligible for renewal. Overdue fines are not charged on homebound materials, but the Library’s standard fees do apply for damaged or lost items.

Our Digital Library

If you are homebound, you may also be interested in our Digital Library and its collections, which include a variety of eBooks, audiobooks, streaming video, music, and much more.
