FT/PTFull-time 

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including days, evenings and a weekend rotation 

Salary:  $51,500 DOQ  

The Franklin Park Public Library District is seeking an empathetic and energetic librarian to join our Public Services team and provide direct service to adults and teens. The ideal candidate should enjoy working with a diverse community, possess excellent customer service skills, and work well both collaboratively and independently. Other desired qualities include being flexible, creative, a self-starter, and having a sense of humor. Experience with seniors a plus.  

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Providing reference, reader’s advisory, and technology assistance to adults and teens at the Information Desk 
  • Conducting collection development in assigned areas 
  • Leading monthly adult programs 
  • Offering one-on-one technology training to adults  
  • Assisting with adult outreach

Qualifications:   

  • Master of Library and Information Science degree.   Some experience in adult services preferred.  Consideration will be made for students in the last semester of graduate school.

The Franklin Park Public Library District is seeking a friendly, helpful, flexible, and reliable person to join our thriving kids’ area as part of the Youth Services team. The ideal candidate can provide excellent customer service to children and families, is comfortable with technology, and can work both collaboratively and independently.

Job Duties: Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

  • Planning and presenting a weekly storytime, creating kits, and running in-person programs and events for children and their families.  
  • Providing reference, reader’s advisory, and technology help at the Kids Crossing Desk. 
  • Participating in school and community outreach events. 
  • Developing and maintaining the children’s collection. 

 

Requirements: Master of Library and Information Science degree. Some experience with public library services for children or equivalent experience working with children is preferred. A consideration will be made for students in the last semester of graduate school.
