Franklin Park Library patrons can checkout Roku streaming devices and gain access to movies, TV shows, and free streaming channels at home.

You will need a TV with an HDMI port and Internet (either Wi-Fi or regular Internet service). Simply plug the Roku into your TV’s HDMI port and follow the instructions to connect to your home Wi-Fi. Then navigate through the content using the Roku remote. Channels include, Prime Video, Paramount+, Max, Apple TV+ and many more. Check out the full list here.

Access the Library’s collection through the Fandango at Home app (formerly Vudu). You’ll find 250+ movies and TV shows in many popular genres such as action, comedy, drama, and horror along with family-friendly movies and children’s shows. The selection is constantly growing.

Roku devices are shelved at the Circulation Desk. Rokus can be checked out for 7 days by patrons age 18 or older. The Roku comes in a kit with a remote, a power cord, an instruction sheet, and a movie/TV show list. If all Rokus are checked out, place yourself on hold or ask at the Info Desk.

Roku Lending Policy

The Franklin Park Public Library District offers Rokus for loan as an extension of the Library’s DVD collection. Patrons aged 18 or older with a Franklin Park library card in good standing can check out Rokus. Rokus are holdable for Franklin Park card holders only, and limited to 1 per library card.

The loan period is 7 days with no renewals. Overdue fines will be $1.00 a day. Failure to return the Roku and accessories within 6 weeks after the original due date will result in a charge to the cardholder’s account of $57.00 with a $5.00 processing fee.

Borrowers may not download or delete any titles, accounts, or content from the Rokus. The Franklin Park Library District’s Rokus are pre-associated with select accounts and content, in accordance with the Library’s collection policies. The Library is not responsible for any costs incurred while borrowers use the equipment.

The Library is not responsible for clearing stored data from a Roku after it is returned, and is not responsible for personal information left on the device.

Borrowing

A borrower should have these technical requirements at home to use a Roku:

  • Wi-fi
  • A TV with an HDMI port

After checking out the Roku, the borrower will receive a Roku kit with:

  1. The Roku Streaming Stick+
  2. The Roku remote with 2 AA batteries
  3. A power adaptor
  4. USB power cable
  5. USB power extender cable
  6. Instruction sheet
  7. Black case

Returning

When returning a Roku the borrower must:

  1. Return the Roku to the Circulation Desk during normal library business hours. Rokus cannot be returned in the bookdrop.
  2. Return all 7 items (Roku plus 5 accessories in kit bag) to the Circulation Desk at the same time.
  3. Failure to return any of the 7 items will result in a charge to the cardholder’s account for the replacement cost of the material(s).

  2. Black case ($17.00)

Full replacement cost is $57.00 with a $5.00 processing fee ($62.00).
