Chromebook Kit

Borrow a Chromebook Kit from your library! This kit includes a hotspot, letting you access the Internet from anywheres. Here are a few ways a Chromebook can be used:

• Take one on vacation or to a relative’s house.
• Use it out in your backyard, in a park, or in a coffee shop.
• Stream content likes movies and TV shows on a slightly bigger screen that most phones.
• Stay connected online without having to choose between paying utilities during tough times.

You must be a Franklin Park Public Library card holder, age 18 and older and in good standing.

Chromebook Kit Lending Policy

Franklin Park Public Library District offers the Chromebook Mobile Hotspot Kit for loan as an extension of the Library’s commitment to digital literacy and inclusion. Patrons aged 18 or older with a Franklin Park library card in good standing can check out the kit. The kit is holdable for Franklin Park card holders only, and limited to 1 per library card.

The loan period is 14 (fourteen) days with up to 2 renewals. Overdue fines are $5.00 a day. Failure to return the Chromebook Mobile Hotspot Kit and accessories within 42 days after the original due date will result in a charge to the cardholder’s account of $250.00 with a $5.00 processing fee.

Borrowing:  A borrower must sign the Statement of Responsibility. After checking out the kit, the borrower will receive a carrying bag containing the following items:

Chromebook:

1. Samsung Chromebook 3, 11.6” Model XE500C13-K06US
2. Chromebook power adapter
3. Chromebook protective sleeve

Mobile hotspot:

4. Wi-Fi hotspot (Linkzone 2 or another brand)
5. USB-C Cable
6. Wall charger
7. Case

Returning:  When returning the Chromebook Mobile Hotspot Kit, the borrower must:

1. Return the kit to the Circulation Desk during library business hours. The kit should not be returned in the bookdrop.
2. Return all 8 items (carrying bag and its contents) to the Circulation Desk at the same time.
3. Failure to return any of the 8 items will result in a charge to the cardholder’s account for the replacement cost of the material(s).
