April 22-29 is Money Smart Week, a week of providing consumers with presentations, materials, and resources to learn how to manage their time and money! The week is sponsored by organizations such as the American Library Association, the Financial Planning Association, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and more. Discover Money Smart Week programming and events near you.

In addition, the Franklin Park Public Library offers a variety of programs to help you learn how to manage your personal finances.


Adult Programs

College Illinois! Information Session

April 27 at 7:00 pm-8:00 pm

Representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will share information about College Illinois!, a state program educating families on how to prepay for future college tuition. Learn more about the program.

Understanding Credit Reports

April 24 at 6:30 pm-7:30 pm

Representatives from the Leyden Credit Union will join the Library in providing information on understanding your credit report, what goes into a credit report, and improving your credit score. Learn more about the program.


Children’s Programs

Penny Jar Guessing Game

April 24-April 28 an all-day program

 Correctly guess the number of pennies in the jar at the kid’s crossing desk and receive a $10 gift card! Learn more about the program.

DIY Piggy Bank

April 25 at 6:00 pm-7:00 pm

Make your own piggy bank to save your money! Learn more about the program.


In addition to these programs, the Library offers a variety of resources to increase your financial literacy! Browse our financial education section to read about investing, debt reduction, teaching financial literacy to your children, and the basic principles of money. The Money Smart Week website also offers a number of articles and links on financial tips, saving for college, financial habits, and decreasing your debt.
